How a Crawl Space Sump Pump Works
A sump pump sits in a basin set into the lowest point of the crawl space or basement. Water that collects there, from a high water table, runoff or an interior drain line, flows into the basin and the pump pushes it out through a discharge pipe to daylight, well away from the foundation.

Do crawl spaces need a sump pump?
Not every crawl space does. If water only shows up because gutters or grading send it toward the house, fixing that may be enough. If water still collects at a low point after storms, a sump pump is the dependable way to get it out.
Where does a sump pump discharge water?
Through a pipe to daylight, a safe distance from the foundation and not onto a neighbor's property. We plan the discharge route during the estimate.
How long does a sump pump last?
Pumps are mechanical and wear out. Many last several years, and a pump that runs often wears faster. Testing it a couple of times a year helps you catch a failing pump before a storm.
Can you replace my old sump pump?
Yes. We replace pumps that are noisy, running constantly, clogged or dead, and we can add a check valve or a sealed lid to an older basin at the same time.
Will a sump pump fix a musty crawl space?
It removes liquid water, which is often the biggest cause. To stop the musty smell for good, the crawl space usually also needs a sealed vapor barrier and, in many homes, a dehumidifier.
